Last Wednesday and this Wednesday’s drill - water supply!

🚒 Last Wednesday, East and West Dover, VT Fire Department firefighters trained together on relay pumping to move water over long distances or elevation changes.

🧯This Wednesday, East Dover firefighters trained with Townshend Volunteer Fire Department, Grafton Fire and Rescue, Jamaica Fire and Rescue and Rockingham Fire & Rescue firefighters on portable pumps.

Last Wednesday night’s joint drill - Lt Benczcowski from WDFD reviewed ventilation, Capt Audet demonstrated fire behavior, and LT Meckle instructed firefighters on wall breaching and self rescue techniques.

Firefighters from Grafton Fire and Rescue, Townshend Volunteer Fire Department, Rockingham Fire & Rescue, West Dover, VT Fire Department, and Newbrook Fire & Rescue gathered to practice firefighter rescue together on our training trailer.

East Dover firefighters took the opportunity to train on pumping last night while flushing and flow testing hydrants. Flushing hydrants ensures that they are ready to use in an emergency and flow testing tells us the maximum gallons per minute available.

Our Lieutenant Hayden Meckle and former Firefighter Julian Meckle’s grandfather was given his last ride to the Mountain View Cemetery today. Our condolences are with them and their families. Rest in peace, Chief Murray.
