The Fire Danger Forecast for April 9, 2026 is MODERATE to HIGH.
From the US National Weather Service Burlington VT: Dry and breezy conditions are expected across the region today, leading to near critical fire weather conditions in the Champlain Valley. Southerly wind gusts of 30 to 40 mph are expected, with locally higher gusts possible. High temperatures today will climb into the 50s and low 60s. Conditions will be favorable for any fires to quickly spread should any fires start.

It’s that time of year again folks.
1) We know it’s nice out. (Today anyway)
2) The snow is melting.
3) Windy/breezy days are NOT good days to burn.
4) To be on the safe side, always call for a permit before you burn.
5) Keep an eye out, we’ll have burn bans before you know it.

A public safety message for ice storm preparedness….

Although it’s slightly more than 24 hours out, NOAA is already spreading the word that we may see an *extremely heavy ice event* starting tomorrow night and lasting into Monday morning.

Current predictions are for 1/4” to 1/2” of ice plus winds upwards of 40 mph later in the day on Monday.

Not a typo folks. Expect the grid to go down, so check your generators now, have flashlights charged, and extra water for drinking and flushing available.

Please check on your neighbors, we’re all in this together. 🇺🇸

Tune into whichever weather source you trust, and if you have an emergency please call 9-1-1 and please keep pets and kids away from down power lines.
