Instead of our normal Friday Fire Safety Tip, today we had the honor of sponsoring the "After the Fire" assembly at the East Brunswick High School.
The “After the Fire” program shares the powerful story of the tragic Seton Hall University dormitory fire that occurred on January 19, 2000. The fire claimed the lives of three students and injured dozens more, forever changing countless lives. Through their presentation, survivors Shawn and Alvaro provide a firsthand account of the events leading up to that night, the consequences of poor decisions, and the lasting impact fire can have on individuals, families, and entire communities.
As our students prepare to graduate and begin their college journeys, the lessons shared through this program are more important than ever. The presentation serves as a reminder that fire safety, personal responsibility, and looking out for one another can make all the difference.
We always look forward to welcoming Shawn and Alvaro each year and greatly appreciate their willingness to share their story with our students. Their message continues to leave a lasting impression and helps ensure the next generation understands the importance of fire safety both on campus and beyond.
Thank you to Sean and Alvaro for your dedication, your courage, and your commitment to educating young adults through your experience. We would also like to thank East Brunswick Public Schools and administrators for continually partnering with us and providing the time and opportunity to bring this important program to their students each year.
