Please be advised that the Vince Lombardi Service Area on the New Jersey Turnpike will be impacted by the FIFA World Cup matches being played at nearby NY/NJ (MetLife) Stadium. The first of eight matches being hosted there will be tomorrow, Saturday, June 13, 2026, at 6:00pm.

There are approximately 200 truck parking spaces at Vince Lombardi. Beginning at 6:00pm on Friday June 12, 2026, as trucks exit the area, about 150 truck parking spaces will be reserved for staging emergency response equipment and personnel. It is anticipated that the roadways around the stadium will be back to normal by 10:00pm Saturday June 13, 2026, and the service area will be back to normal late Saturday into early Sunday morning June 14, 2026. Fueling operations will be uninterrupted.

Motor carriers are advised to plan accordingly and if at all possible, avoid the area. Based on Saturday's performance, changes may be made for the seven future matches. The next match is Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at 3:00pm.

The New Jersey Motor Truck Association thanks Governor Sherrill and the New Jersey Turnpike Authority for their collaboration with us by not closing the service area entirely. We will provide updates to the trucking industry as necessary.

Please note: The New Jersey Turnpike Authorityโ€™s email domain has changed from njta.com to njta.gov. Please update your records as njta.com will be decommissioned over the next few months.

โ€™Twas the night before TDC, and all through the state,
Drivers were studying, staying up late.
The rule books were scattered all over the floor,
While flash cards and notes were lined up once more.

The uniforms hung in the closet with pride,
With polished black boots standing neatly beside.
Each driver kept thinking, while trying to rest,
โ€œTomorrowโ€™s the day that we put ourselves to the test.โ€

Then bags were all packed and loaded with care,
As drivers prepared for the trip they would share.
Down south they all traveled with one common goal,
To Atlantic City where the best drivers roll.

At the hotel they gathered, competitors and teammates alike,
With handshakes and laughter beneath the morning light.
Old friends reunited with stories to tell,
While newcomers wondered if they would do well.

Some worried of judges all watching each move,
And hoped that their backing skills still stayed smooth.
Others feared questions they might not expect,
On air brakes and hazards and rules to inspect.

The written test lingered on minds through the night,
As "Facts For Drivers" manuals stayed well within sight.
โ€œWhatโ€™s the stopping distance?โ€ one driver exclaimed,
While another recited each odd fact he could retain.

Then thoughts turned to pre-trip inspections with care,
โ€œPlease let me remember each detail out there!โ€
โ€œDonโ€™t miss anything!โ€ another one cried,
As visions of checklists went swirling inside.

The main course awaited with twists and tight turns,
Where every last cone could bring lessons well learned.
Avoiding a rubber duck, the alley dock challenge and the serpentine too,
Could humble the best of the seasoned crew.

Yet deep down they knew as they climbed into bed,
The championships werenโ€™t just about what lay ahead.
Itโ€™s friendships and memories made every year,
And respect for all the drivers we all hold so dear.

So whether they finish in first place or last,
They all represent a profession built to last.
With pride in their craft and skills on display,
The best of New Jersey rolls in the next day.

Then the next morning in the parking lot engines gave life,
As drivers prepared for competition and strife.
And one shouted proudly as trucks rolled into sight
โ€œHappy Truck Driving Championships to all,
and see everyone at the banquet tonight!โ€
