Cooper Turner graduated from Firefighter Recruit School in Ozark today.

The end of a months long journey to a career in public service. Answering the call to serve.

Thank you to the City of Ozark and the Ozark Fire Department for all of your efforts to accommodate, train and mentor these new firefighters.

Cooper joins a long list of firefighters that have began their career at EBFD.

What a morning!! We spent the first part of the morning with Pre-K, Kindergarten, First Grade, and Second Grade classes teaching them about fire safety and the importance of smoke detectors. We also covered the importance of a meeting place with our special friend, Dusty The Dragon! If you’re kids came home and won’t stop singing the “fire truck song”, we apologize but a great time was had by all! We will post a video following this post! Thank you school staff and faculty for allowing us to come visit with the kids today! It’s our favorite time of the year! Go Eagles!

Tonight, if you’ve ever wanted to serve your community, pray for one of our guys. One of our firefighters, our community servant, was injured in a motorcycle accident. He, his wife, his kids, and his family could use the prayers. He’s a tough guy and would not ever take the recognition he deserves but he would be thankful for your thoughts and prayers. Thank you all!

If you do not have these in your home, we highly recommend that you do. We have been to many cooking fires where these have saved the house/residence from burning up. Very simple design and very easy installation. All you have to do is stick them above your cooking range onto the hood vent. Prices range from $40 to $50 from sellers like Amazon and Home Depot. About the same price as a fire extinguisher. Some apartment complexes have them in all of their apartments. This specifically has resulted in stopping many fires here in East Brewton.

Have you ever thought about serving your community? Maybe you have thought about volunteering your time to help others in need! If so, East Brewton Fire Dept may be the place for you. What better way to serve your community than volunteer with the fire department? You will have the opportunity to continue education through the fire service, earn monthly stipend upon completed probationary period, and serve the community you live amongst. There are many career firemen in your community who started out volunteering and it lead them to a career. Who knows? It could be your career. East Brewton Fire Dept is now accepting volunteer applications. All applications must be received from East Brewton city hall (615 Forrest Ave) and submitted there as well. All applicants must have a current driver’s license, able to pass a background check, and 18 years of age or older.

Public Service Announcement:

We, East Brewton Fire Department, are thankful for our community and it’s support. As a branch of public service, we are here to provide a service to the residents/guests of East Brewton. Community involvement is imperative and often a direct reflection of our youth! With that being said, we will be in attendance tonight like every home game cheering on OUR team and providing a service to this great community!Everyone stay warm and be safe tonight! We have candy for Trick or Treaters! We are located behind the city hall in East Brewton. If the lights are on and the fire trucks aren’t gone, we are home! Stay warm tonight! More importantly, stay safe! Wear something bright and carry a light!

Today, we visited with students in Pre-K through 1st grade at W.S.Neal Elementary school. We were able to teach and talk with the students about multiple facets of fire safety. Thank you, W.S.
