πŸ—£ Shout out to our Executive Director, Amy O'Leary, for the donation of her hair to Children With Hair Loss! πŸ’›

πŸŽ— In October of 2017 Amy begin to grow her hair to make her 4th* donation to children with cancer. (*2008 (2) 16" pony tails were donated and then 2x's after she donated 8" each time)

In 2019 the date arrived that she and her uncle would cut their hair to make their donations, however after researching which companies would take her uncles grey hair, she learned that donations longer than 12" are in high demand. Her uncle cut his 8" at that time and she decided to go longer.

After researching these companies in depth, Amy learned some disturbing news on the ways that the wigs were handled by the previous organizations that she personally had donated to. Now a new search began on who would be the recipient of the most recent growth she was working towards. Children With Hair Loss was selected for several reasons, however the most important being Children With Hair Loss provides to recipients a complete care kit along with a human hair replacement. Their services and products are provided FREE of charge to recipients with ANY medical related hair loss annually until age 21!

πŸ’‡β€β™€οΈ After reaching about 44" in length, the time arrived to set a date to have her hair cut at Chloe's Hair Salon in Dover, PA. Chlo'e Kinard, owner, graciously donated her time and services to the great cause! Amy decided on the month of December to honor her grandmothers memory for Christmas. Carol was born on Christmas day and passed away of cancer when Amy was just 2 years of age.

πŸ™ Amy had (4) 25" cut for a total of πŸ’― inches of hair to donate!

Our Story

The Foundation delivers gifts to thousands of children each year through the national Bear-Able Gift Program. Items such as board games, toys, crayons, coloring books, markers, video games, iTunes gift cards, puzzles, teddy bears, craft kits… all sorts of things that make children smile and laugh… are distributed to hospitals across the country. The Bear-Able Gift Program is the largest supplier of gifts to children with cancer in North America. In 2018, CCRF sent more than 16,000 toys to 8,011 children currently receiving cancer treatment in hospitals across the U.S.

Families of children with cancer often face financial difficulties. Suddenly, household bills become overwhelming; utilities are in jeopardy of being shut-off or an eviction notice is received. The Helping Hands Fund provides emergency bridge payments directly to the utility companies and landlords, ensuring that each child has a warm, safe place to call home while recovering from cancer. CCRF's Helping Hands Fund was able to provide financial relief to 49 families who are facing a childhood cancer diagnosis.

New in 2019! Therapeutic Services Program offering free counseling sessions and support groups to the children and families dealing with a cancer diagnosis. The team at CCRF recognizes the importance of the mental health of the entire family at the time of cancer diagnosis and during treatment. Another piece of the therapeutic program is advocating on behalf of the families, providing additional items such as, but not limited to, local donations of products, services, meals, games, lists of resources and more to families who have just received the tragic news of a childhood cancer diagnosis, in efforts to assist with raising spirits, and offering the friendship of CCRF’s team to the families. Essentially, lending a hand where they need it most!
