Today, May 4th, is International Firefighters’ Day. As the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Weekend came to a close yesterday, today we honor all who have served and continue to serve our community.

Above all, this is a day of remembrance for those members we have lost. We especially remember East Aurora Firefighter Donald J. Smith, who tragically gave his life on June 17, 1989, while responding to a call.

We will never forget his sacrifice.

The picture is from the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial in Emmitsburg, Maryland where Don’s name is forever engraved on the memorial.

Good Morning friends and neighbors, as per the Erie County Water Authority the boil water advisory has been lifted and we are free to use water without further purification.

A big thank you to Town of Aurora Highway Department for assisting with the distribution of bottled water.

Good Morning, the boil water advisory remains in effect per the Erie County Water Authority.

Please refer to the Town of Aurora Highway Department for bottled / potable water distribution.

The boil water advisory is still in effect, please see the post from the Town of Aurora Highway Department page regarding the distribution of water. Also for the residents living in the affected areas please check on your neighbors and make sure they are aware and that resources are available.

✅ Who Can Apply?
• Must be 18 years or older
• Must reside in one of the following counties:
Erie, Niagara, Genesee, Wyoming, Cattaraugus, or Chautauqua

⏱️ Program Requirements
• Commit to 16 scheduled hours per month
• Attend 8 department drills per year

🎓 Training & Support
• No prior experience needed
• All required training is provided
• Hands-on instruction in firefighting, EMS support, and emergency response
