While we fully support community gatherings, exercise, and lawful assemblies; Wilshire Village is not accessible to the public at this time. This is why there are still barrels in place to block the entrances. Also groms, 4 wheelers, mini bikes, etc. are illegal within corporate limits. Our Officers will enforce trespassing and/or traffic laws if needed, but if we stay off the property no enforcement action will be needed. Thank you.

We know the fire/damage at Wilshire Village is striking everyone's curiosity, but you must obey all barricades and barriers in place. We have had several people drive past, over and around these devices wgich are in place to keep everyone safe. Do not come to Wilshire Village and create a hazard by trying to get as close as possible to the scene. This is for everyone's safety.

The East Alton Police Department has seen a recent surge in scams targeting area citizens. These scams are occurring in several different ways; online phishing schemes, phone calls impersonating federal agencies, AI generated phone calls to sound like a grandchild, and unfortunately many others. The number one rule to remember is if you receive a phone call, email, letter in the mail, etc. and a request/demand for money is made, STOP! Chances are you are being scammed. No federal agency is going to call and demand cash be mailed off, picked up by an agent, or deposited in Bitcoin. If you won a lottery, you are not going to have to pay to receive the winnings or pay the taxes in Apple gift cards. If a loved one is calling for money, meet with your loved one in person and do not send money via any online service. Protect yourself and be vigilant keeping an eye out for possible scams. If you feel something is a scam and would like the police department to assist you, please reach out; 618-259-6212.

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of one of our own; Officer Jack Stalcup. Officer Stalcup worked in law enforcement for over four decades at the South Roxana Police Department, Hartford Police Department and coming to East Alton in 2018. Officer Stalcup worked part time for the East Alton Police Department in many capacities with some being patrol, investigations, and our lead evidence Officer. Officer Stalcup not only served at the police department but he was a dedicated public servant and worked at our Park and Recreation Department coordinating youth sports and volunteering at numerous Village sponsored events. His sudden passing will be felt deeply by all who knew him.
