8:50am Update: Electric service has now been restored across our community. If you are still experiencing an outage, please call 864-859-4013 or message us here. Thank you!

3:30am Update: Our team has provided a 4:30am revised estimated time of restoration for customers that remain without electric service. Teams are working diligently to restore power.

9:15pm Update: Thank you all for your patience and encouragement. Know that we are working as safely and as quickly as possible to restore electric service. Our teams will be working through the night; for some customers, power may not be restored until after midnight. We do not have specific estimated times of restoration for every outage due to the widespread impacts of today’s storm.

There are widespread outages across our system due to downed trees and other storm impacts. Crews are currently working and additional crew members are being fielded now. Complete restoration for all impacted customers could take several hours.

Lloyd here. Those peeks at 60-something degree evenings have got my toes to tapping. I am looking forward to cooler weather – and so is my wallet, at least temporarily. I’d like to clear something up: any increases in your utility bills are not the result of data centers in Easley. Want to know how I can guarantee this? There are no current data centers or planned data centers on the horizon that will be in Easley. So, while data centers do tend to have increased electricity and water needs, the ones in Easley don’t. Because they don’t exist. The more you know, neighbors.

By being both a team member and customer, Electric Superintendent Jonathan Langston knows ECU inside and out: “As an employee and customer, it's obvious that ECU makes every effort to keep the customer first in all decisions and be the best partner with the community it can be. Great place to work and great place to be a customer.”

Lloyd here. Now, I’ve been accused of squeezing a nickel so tight that Thomas Jefferson screams, but I was raised to be frugal. I hate the thought of spending money on something new when the old works just as well, if not better. But if you have to bite the bullet and purchase a new appliance anytime soon, look for one of those “efficient” models: it’s not just marketing jargon. You could save up to $45 a month by switching to certified efficient appliances. And while $45 doesn’t go as long as it once did, I’ll take it.
