The completion of the Downtown Mini Park Court, Pavilion, and Forever Tree represents the historic level of investment being directed toward our parks and community. Much of which is benefiting the youth of our city.

This year has been especially exciting because this court and pavilion are truly one of a kind for our town. Growing up, I remember playing on a homemade backboard with a milk crate attached to it up at the school parking lot. Seeing this project come to life shows just how far we have come as a community.

Without a doubt, this court will change the game for both our youth and adults. It is more than just a new amenity — it is an investment in our people and in our future. Basketball brings people together, and this space provides a safe and inspiring place to play, connect, compete, and grow.

I’m proud to support projects that transform our neighborhoods and give our residents the resources they deserve. When our youth have opportunities to play in places like this, they see that we are invested not only in the community, but in them personally.

We want to see them out there doing their best Anthony Davis and Anthony Edwards impressions while working on their game and chasing dreams of becoming the next generation of Georgia or Kentucky basketball stars.

Later on, we will also be honoring our own Earlington Yellow Jackets with a memorial recognizing the team that brought home that beautiful State Championship trophy and title. Their legacy deserves to be remembered and celebrated for generations to come. This is just a start and hopefully with the continue support of our council members, business and citizens we will do so much more.

The City of Earlington, along with Central High School, is proud to introduce two outstanding students who have accepted summer positions through the Career Signing event held yesterday at Mar Park. Congratulations to Kylee Statterfield and Calajia Mason!

Both Kylee and Calajia have demonstrated strong leadership, a positive work ethic, and a genuine willingness to serve our community. This program highlights students who are balancing work and school, often without recognition.

Today was an opportunity to put them in the spotlight and let their hard work shine. So the next time you see one of them, whether in the office or out in the community. Take a moment to say hello and recognize their dedication. Not just for their achievements in school or athletics, but for their commitment to showing up every day and serving our community.

A lot of people have been asking about the tower structure going up behind City Shop. Here’s what’s going on:

When the mayor took office, one of his key goals was to improve cell phone reception and internet access throughout the City. After many discussions with service providers, state, and working through permits and logistics, that goal is finally becoming a reality.

The tower currently going up downtown is part of that effort, and a second tower is planned near the ATV Park. These projects are designed to strengthen connectivity across our community.

Better network coverage means more reliable calls, faster internet, and stronger communication when it matters most. After the impact the tornado had on our area over the past couple of years, the importance of dependable service has become even more clear. In critical moments, being able to connect quickly can make all the difference. Strong infrastructure helps residents, businesses, and first responders stay connected when it matters most.

In addition, the companies installing the towers will pay a monthly lease, contribute yearly net revenue, and handle maintenance of their properties—bringing both service improvements and financial benefits to the city.

This is just one part of the mayor’s broader vision to support growth and make our city an even better place to live.
