Today, members of the Lower Providence Township Police Department gathered at our 9/11 Memorial alongside our fire and EMS partners, Township Staff and Supervisors, State Representative Joe Webster, and members of our community to remember a day that forever changed our nation.
25 years later, we continue to honor the nearly 3,000 lives lost on September 11, 2001, the families whose lives were forever changed, and the countless survivors who carry the impact of that day with them.
We also remember the extraordinary courage of the first responders who ran toward danger when others were trying to escape. Firefighters, Law Enforcement, Military, EMS, dispatchers, and everyday citizens answered unimaginable circumstances with bravery, compassion, and selflessness. We honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice that day, as well as the many first responders who have lost their lives in the years since from illnesses connected to their service at Ground Zero.
May we continue to remember not only what we lost, but the way people came together in the days that followed. May we carry that same sense of compassion, service, and care for one another forward.
We will remember them. We will honor them. We will NEVER FORGET.
