Meet our Greenhouse teacher! Thom Kojak is a local educator, parent, and the founder of Just Hatched Chefs, a cooking program for kids throughout Eagle County. He spent more than a decade as a classroom teacher before starting Just Hatched Chefs and has always loved finding ways for kids to learn through real experiences, whether that means cooking, creating, growing, or just getting curious about how things work.

BCES is also familiar to Thom because his daughter attended the school before moving on to middle school. Taking on the greenhouse role felt like a really natural fit, especially because it connects so many things he cares about: food, gardening, science, responsibility, and giving kids the chance to learn by doing.

Thom is really excited to be at Brush Creek in a new role this year and is looking forward to spending Fridays growing, learning, and getting his hands dirty in the greenhouse.

Walking Mountains previously staffed this position, but it was cut due to budget restraints. We are thrilled to have received a grant from a local private donor, allowing us to offer this to our students again this year.
