Ahh…… we missed World Bee Day yesterday 🐝!

Bees are responsible for pollinating many of the wild plants that create the stunning scenery in Idaho State Parks.

By protecting native vegetation, we provide essential habitats for these crucial pollinators.
Even if plants bloom early, bees might not show up right away!
Bees wait for consistent warmth (usually 50–55°+), low wind, and the right seasonal cues before becoming active.

When you visit us, take a moment to look closely at the wildflowers, you might spot a native sweat bee or bumblebee at work! 🐝

Last week one of our seasonal’s found a baby beaver on our beach. Concerned about its safety as we had no way to return it to its mom or the den, we called animals in destress.

*We understand everyone's concern and the leave babies alone in the springtime, but please note this baby beaver was found on our beach in the day use area. The first thing we did was call animals in destress to figure out what we should do. Because the parents were not with the baby and of the location of the beaver they suggested we capture the baby beaver so it could be rehabbed.

They came out and collected this little guy to rehab it. During that time we learned quite a bit about beavers! It was estimated this guy was between 6-8 weeks old and because there wasn’t any visible injuries they thought the beaver’s den was probably destroyed and the baby was separated from its mom that way. Beavers will stay with their mom for up to two years before they go off on their own.

We learned a lot that day and hope the baby beaver makes it to adulthood! We thank animals in destress for assisting us in capturing the baby beaver.
