MEDIA RELEASE - The City of Eagle statement regarding – Hefty ReNew (Orange Bag) Program Discontinuation

The Nationwide Hefty ReNew Program recently announced the discontinuance of the program effective June 30, 2027. Hefty was no longer able to find suitable end markets to allow the continuation of the program. While we are disappointed by the announcement, we remain grateful for the tons of diverted plastic waste that was accomplished by the participation by our Eagle residents.

As we move forward, we encourage residents to continue to be mindful about everyday habits that impact our local landfill. Reducing waste at the source by choosing products with less packaging remains one of the most effective ways to make a difference. We also encourage our residents to continue using their curbside recycling program for accepted items, including plastic bottles, jugs, and food tubs, along with other recyclable materials accepted in the orange-lid cart.

The City, along with our Solid Waste Partner, Hardin Sanitation will be exploring new recycling opportunities and partnerships for our community.
