The City of Eagle Pass First Responders Mental Health Program partnered with the Bexar County District 7 Fire Department to host a three-day Peer Support and Su***de Awareness Training. Participants included members of the First Responders Peer Support Team from the Eagle Pass Police Department, Eagle Pass Dispatch, and Eagle Pass Fire Department.

The training focused on mental health awareness for first responders, who often face traumatic incidents and high levels of stress. Participants learned to recognize signs of stress, identify warning indicators, engage in supportive conversations, and assist colleagues in crisis.

The collaboration also reinforced the importance of strong peer support networks, teamwork, and open communication across agencies. By working together, departments can help reduce stigma and ensure responders have access to support when needed.

Supporting first responder mental health strengthens the safety, wellness, and effectiveness of those who serve our communities. Together, we continue building a stronger support network for those who protect us.
