Sound on! One of our brilliant 8th graders composed an original, full piece of music for our 8th-grade band! With a bit of guidance from Mr. Anderson, he brought this incredible arrangement to life. Watch the band bring his vision to reality in this world premiere!

🎙️ 6th grade is taking over the airwaves! 🎧

Students hit the podcast studio today to record episodes about notable figures—exploring everything from their childhoods and careers to their biggest achievements and obstacles.

We might just have some future journalists and audio engineers on our hands!

BHMS made a BIG splash for Special Olympics Minnesota today! 🌊❄️

Our students and staff proved they aren't afraid of a little cold water when it comes to supporting inclusion and raising awareness.

Our 7th grade scientists stepped into the roles of competing species this week!

By testing different "beaks" on a variety of island "habitats," they saw firsthand how specific adaptations determine who thrives and who struggles. It was a high-stakes lesson in how specialized niches help reduce competition in the wild.

Science is in the air at Black Hawk Middle School! 🌬️📐

Mr. Fritz's 6th graders headed to the hill this week to put their handmade anemometers to the test! By using protractors and ping-pong balls, students measured the angle of the wind to calculate speed in real-time.

It wasn't just a windy day—it was a day of data collection, collaboration, and a whole lot of BHMS spirit. Check out our young meteorologists in action!

It’s an inspiring day for Black Hawk Middle School as we celebrate these teachers walking the stage at Concordia University, St. Paul after earning their Master’s Degrees.

We are so proud of their dedication to lifelong learning. By continuing their own education, they aren’t just earning degrees—they are bringing new tools, fresh perspectives, and even more passion back to our classrooms. Thank you for leading by example and showing our students what it means to keep growing!

Our 7th graders are dreaming big today! They are busy interviewing over 30 professionals from a huge variety of fields. Whether they’re interested in the science of chemistry, the tech of computer engineering, or the mechanics of a school bus, there’s something here for everyone to explore.

Special shoutout to our guest presenters like Navy Captain Mike Bo****no, Amanda Bakken from Ecolab, and all the local heroes who made today possible! 🎖️🧪
