While hyperactivity may calm down as kids get older, the underlying cognitive challenges (like working memory, processing speed, and sustained attention) don't just disappear on their own.

What changes is how the symptoms look. A fidgety 7-year-old might become a distracted, overwhelmed teenager… and later an adult who struggles to stay organized or follow through.
