🚨 VOLUNTEERS NEEDED – YOUR COMMUNITY NEEDS YOU 🚨

Volunteer fire companies like the D**e Volunteer Fire Company (Station 3) exist because of dedicated neighbors who are willing to step up and serve. Every call answered, every life helped, every emergency managed — it all happens because volunteers choose to give their time and heart to their community.

Whether you’re interested in serving as a Firefighter, EMT, or in an Administrative role, there is a place for you at DVFC. No experience? No problem. We provide training, support, and opportunities to learn life-saving skills while making a real difference close to home.

Volunteering isn’t just about emergency response — it’s about community, service, and pride. Rural and volunteer fire companies are the backbone of public safety, and without committed members, our communities simply can’t thrive.

✨ Ride-alongs are welcomed and encouraged
✨ Training opportunities available
✨ Serve where you live and protect those you love

If you’ve ever felt called to serve, this is your sign.

❄️ School Closure & Asynchronous Learning Days ❄️

Due to hazardous road conditions throughout the county, the current safety status of our campuses, and frigid temperatures that continue to make cleanup especially challenging, Greene County Public Schools will be closed on Thursday, January 29, and Friday, January 30.

These days will be Asynchronous Learning Days for students. Asynchronous learning days allow us to maintain learning opportunities while preserving our current school calendar.

📘 Students will complete learning activities at home, and staff will be available via email to support students who need assistance.
🏫 Building principals will be reaching out to families with specific details regarding asynchronous learning materials and expectations.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we prioritize the safety of our students, staff, and families. Please stay safe and warm. ❄️

Due to continued unsafe travel conditions across the county, Greene County Public Schools will be closed on Wednesday, January 28.

Thank you for your understanding as we continue to prioritize the safety of our students, staff, and families.

Due to the continued freezing temperatures causing issues with ice and snow cleanup, Greene County Offices will remain closed Wednesday, January 28, 2026--including the Solid Waste Facility, Circuit Court and Treasurer's Office. Essential services and emergency operations remain working around the clock, including public safety response. We appreciate everyone's patience and care during this difficult cleanup. https://alrt.se/u/mOxoFAsQRpG

Even a small amount of ice and snow on the roads can be more dangerous than deep snow. Many times, the roads appear to be clear, but black ice is present and hard to see. Drivers often travel too fast and don’t realize how slick the surface is until it’s too late. You can come around a curve expecting clear pavement and suddenly find solid white ice covering the roadway. This leads to sudden loss of control and serious accidents. Slick spots can appear without warning, especially on bridges, curves, and shaded areas. If you do not have to travel for work or an emergency, please stay home, stay safe, and spend time with your family. Your safety is more important than any trip.
