Today, we celebrate the birthday of the United States Army and honor the soldiers who have defended our nation since 1775.

From the Revolutionary War to today's missions around the globe, generations of Army soldiers have answered the call with an unwavering commitment to duty.

To all who have worn the Army uniform: thank you for your service and sacrifice.

Happy 251st Birthday, Army!

Legionnaires-

JavierRivera DeBruin is reaching out to let us know about a block of up to 15 free tickets that he would love to share with post 137 for this Sunday’s (June 14) screening of Flag Day at the Sycamore Cinema at 1 p.m. in Iowa City. Please contact Commander Michael Mullis if you are interested in attending. 563-590-5761 or [email protected] Thank you.

The following is a description of the documentary, if you would like more information:

Somewhere between tradition and transformation lies the Village of Three Oaks, Michigan—home to the largest Flag Day parade in the United States. For more than seventy years, this small town has marked Flag Day with a ritual that celebrates unity even as it exposes the divides running through America. Filmed with verité intimacy, Flag Day follows eight intertwined lives, revealing how community, patriotism, and belonging play out in one corner of America at a moment when the nation itself is deeply fractured. The result is a ground-level portrait of small-town life that speaks urgently to questions of who we are—and who we want to be.

Respectfully,

Mike Mullis
Commander
