Last night at approximately 10:00pm Plympton Firefighters were dispatched to the area of 52 Palmer Rd (Route 58) for a Motorcycle accident vs vehicle. The patient was trapped under the vehicle. On duty personnel and recall personnel from home were on scene in less than 4 minutes after the initial call. The patient was extricated in about 2 minutes from under the vehicle using a hydraulic spreader tool to lift the vehicle. Boston MedFlight was called and the Landing Zone at Walmart in Halfiax was used to transport the patient to a Boston Trauma Center. The patients condition is unknown at this time. We would like to thank our partners for assistance with response, Landing Zone Assistance, and coordination of the incident. We talk to a lot of people during the course of a dispatch shift. Some are having emergencies, some are panicked, some are angry.

Then there are people like Annie Estabrook, the Rochester Animal Control Officer. Our dispatchers would sometimes argue over who got to call her, or it was a race to see who could dial her number faster. Talking to Annie was usually the highlight of the shift. She was always happy, always pleasant, always saying “Thank you dear”, even if we were dispatching her out to a deer vs car or a rabid raccoon.

If there was an animal call in Rochester (or any of the surrounding towns she worked with) Annie was always available, day or night. For 24 years she has dedicated her time to the town of Rochester. For 24 years, she has responded to thousands of calls, helped thousands of people and animals. Loose horses, cows, goats, sheep, dogs, donkeys, cats, you name it, Annie has handled it. And more often than not, all you had to give Annie was the animal’s description and the area in town and she knew instantly who the owner was. “I’ll call them Dear. Thank you.”

Annie, you will most certainly be missed, but you more than deserve your retirement. Enjoy, congratulations and:

Thank YOU Dear.

A message from K9 Sirk’s handler, Officer Steve Hall:

They say a dog is a man’s best friend, that couldn’t be truer when you have a K9 as a partner. Working with K9 Sirk was the most rewarding thing I have done in my career and life. He was much more than just a working dog, he was a partner, a brother in blue and a part of the family. He helped countless amounts of people, whether it was a call for a missing person or a K9 demonstration at touch a truck. He has touched so many lives and will continue to live on through happy memories. For a big bad police K9 he truly had a heart of gold. To my good friend and forever partner, you are the best boy, thank you for all you did for the Town of Duxbury and for me personally. You will always have a place in my heart. You may rest now, I have the watch. K9 Sirk EOW 05/28/2026

Today we say goodbye to a true hero. K9 Sirk was laid to rest today after a life of dedicated service to the town of Duxbury. Alongside his partner, Officer Steve Hall, Sirk gave his all to keep our community safe — day after day, call after call.

He was more than a police dog. He was a partner, a protector, and a beloved member of our public safety family.

Run free, Sirk. Your watch is over, and you will never be forgotten. 💙🐕

On Sunday, May 17th, at approximately 415PM, the Regional Old Colony Communications Center received calls about a possible structure fire on Lemuel Cobb Road. Off-duty Firefighter Pontes was the first to arrive on scene and reported a car on fire in close proximity to the house. Chief Duddy requested a working fire assignment, bringing in mutual aid from the Carver Fire Department, Halifax Fire Department, and Kingston Fire & Emergency Management. As well as recalling all of Plympton's call firefighters.
While waiting for fire companies to arrive, firefighter Pontes used the homeowner's garden hose to wet the home's siding. His quick thinking and selfless actions slowed the spread of the fire, keeping it contained to the outside of the home.
Engine 2 arrived on scene within 5 minutes of dispatch and quickly contained and extinguished the fire. Our mutual aid partners arrived and confirmed the fire had not spread to the interior of the home.
The Silver Lake Regional CERT Team responded and provided drinking water, which was much appreciated on such a hot afternoon.
As always, we thank our dispatch and mutual aid partners for their assistance.

Congratulations gentlemen and thank you for your commitment to helping others.

911 has come a long way over the years. We now have access to a lot of different technology that helps locate individuals. What3Words is an app that divides the entire planet into 3mx3m squares, assigning a unique set of 3 words to each one. When someone is lost in an unfamiliar area, W3W can give us an almost exact GPS location of that individual. This allows on scene first responders to find them incredibly quickly.

Strong work by all involved!

At approximately 12:30 PM today, the Regional Old Colony Communications Center received a 911 call reporting a hiker on Catos Ridge possibly experiencing a medical emergency. Members of the Plympton Fire Department and Plympton Police Department responded to the wooded area to locate and assist the patient.

Due to the challenging terrain, off-duty Fire Department members were called in from home to assist with the extrication.

Using the “What3Words” app, Dispatchers were able to quickly obtain and relay the hiker’s precise location to responding Fire and Police personnel, allowing crews to rapidly locate the individual. This marks the second time within the last year that Dispatchers and first responders successfully worked together using the app to locate hikers in the woods who needed emergency assistance.

The hiker was safely extricated from the woods and evaluated by Plympton Fire EMS personnel.

Great teamwork by all involved, and a reminder of how valuable technology and coordinated emergency response can be in helping those in need.

Our thoughts are with Trooper Trainor's family and friends and all of the Massachusetts State Police. While driving home after his shift, Trooper Trainor responded to a report of a wrong-way driver on RTE 1 with several other Troopers. Even off-duty, Trooper Trainor responded and put his life on the line in an effort to protect the people of the Commonwealth.

He will be remembered as a true hero.
