We took 3rd place at the 5th annual SWLA Veterans Home Jambalaya cook off. We’ve participated in this cook off every year since its inception, and are happy to do so with proceeds going to a great cause. Thank you to Julie Massicot, Stephen Babineaux, Lort and Roger Veillon, James Bourque, and our Chef John Venable for participating and working the cook off.

Side note. Our chef John Venable was presented with a certificate and a hat as the 2025-2026 Post Member of the Year. Thank you John for all the cooking you’ve done the past couple of years in cookoff and at the Lafayette VA Clinic.

It is with a heavy heart the post announce the passing of our Auxiliary President Marlene Comeaux. A celebration of life will be held at the post located at 120 VFW Rd. Duson, LA 70529 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Sept. 19.

Please keep Marlene’s family in your prayers.

She will be greatly missed.

Members of the post, CVMA, and MOPH were able to wish Mr. Jim Bollich a Happy 105th Birthday!! Jim is a Life Member of the Post, is believed to be the last survivor of the Bataan Death March still living, and a true national treasure.
The group rode by his house in a celebratory parade, stopped to visit and wish him a happy birthday.
In the words of Jim, “See you next year!”
