Our fantastic librarian, Ms. Katie Cordes, will be opening the school library on select Tuesdays throughout the summer! This is a wonderful opportunity to keep your students reading all summer long.

✨ Bonus for next year: The word count and points earned from all AR tests taken over the summer will count toward your student's achievements for the 2026-2027 school year!

We are excited to announce that Lacy Johnson has been named the new Assistant Principal of Charles Burke!

For the past 12 years, Mrs. Johnson has been deeply invested in the success of Burke, experiencing firsthand the challenges, growth, and accomplishments that have shaped our school community. Through her dedication to students, staff, and families, she has developed a strong understanding of the culture and vision that make Burke special.

Mrs. Johnson’s commitment to consistency, student achievement, and continued school growth make her a meaningful addition to our leadership team. She is passionate about supporting our staff, sustaining the academic momentum we have worked so hard to build, and continuing the vision and initiatives that help our bulldogs thrive.

As Dr. Bonner becomes a Cardinal, we are excited to share that Mrs. Alleman has been named Principal of Charles Burke. She is ready to lead our Bulldogs on the path toward success!

The Lafayette Parish School System is proud to announce the appointment of Courtney Alleman as the new principal of Charles M. Burke Elementary. Alleman brings a strong background in instructional leadership and student support, having served LPSS as a classroom teacher, Master Teacher of Science across the Transformation Zone, math instructional support at J.W. Faulk Elementary, and as assistant principal.

Her experience across multiple roles reflects a commitment to academic growth, positive school culture, and creating opportunities for students to succeed. Please join us in congratulating Mrs. Alleman as she begins this new chapter at Charles Burke Elementary!

Though we are very sad to see him go, we are thankful to have him remain in the Duson community. Dr. Bonner will be moving down the road as Principal of Judice Middle School. We will miss him tremendously at Burke, but we are so happy to know that he’ll be waiting to welcome out Bulldogs with a smile and a high-five as they become Cardinals!
