From crisis to keys: In just one month, a coordinated housing sprint served 21 Durham families, helping 14 of them move into stable housing.

Thanks to HNH partnerships with Duke University Chapel local landlords, and the City of Durham, families were matched quickly, approved quickly, and supported every step of the way.
This is what’s possible when community comes together.

A heartfelt thank you to our partners, The Forest at Duke Continuing Care Retirement Community, for their continued commitment to a more compassionate Durham. Their generous support helps connect our neighbors to housing and the resources they need to thrive.

As they celebrate the retirement of CEO Anita L. Holt, MPH, we also honor her incredible leadership and lasting impact. We’re so grateful for this partnership and all we’re able to accomplish together.

Big shoutout to our amazing partners at Beds for Kids! 👏

After the Family Sprint, they stepped up in a big way to help restock our inventory of mattresses and bed frames. Thanks to their support, we’re fully stocked again and ready to provide beds for even more families transitioning out of unsheltered situations.

We’re so grateful for partners who help turn houses into homes. 💙

When people exit homelessness into safe, affordable housing, stability follows. Through our Community‑based Supportive Housing, participants receive individualized support from Housing Stability Coordinators. In 2025, we helped 90% maintain or obtain health insurance. Access to consistent care reduces emergency costs, improves workforce stability, and strengthens our local economy. Healthier neighbors make stronger communities.

After years of living outside, Bobby found more than just housing at Housing for New Hope. He found a place to call home. Now settled at Williams Square Apartments, he is building new routines, working toward his driver’s license, and exploring job opportunities. With the support of his care team and community, Bobby is creating a life filled with stability and purpose, making him a valued neighbor who regularly checks in on others.

We were delighted to have Duke University School of Nursing students present to a group of leadership donors at a recent "Insiders" event to talk about their partnership with HNH. These students lead on-site health education workshops for our Campus-based Supportive Housing participants with topics ranging from hygiene education to dental care and offer basic health checks right where people live.

By bringing care on-site, they help remove barriers like transportation and mobility challenges. It’s a meaningful experience for everyone involved. Students gain hands-on learning, and residents build trust, connection, and stronger health.
