Today, we were excited to take 11 young people to Camp Walter Johnson! Camp is a place where children can experience the beauty of nature, build confidence, develop leadership skills, make new friends, and create memories that will last a lifetime. Through outdoor adventures, team-building activities, and a positive environment, campers grow in ways that can impact them for years to come.

We believe every child deserves the opportunity to attend camp, regardless of their family’s financial situation. That’s why we are looking for sponsors to help cover the cost of camp for these children. Your support can make a life-changing difference and help provide an experience they will never forget.

If you would like to sponsor a child or learn more about how you can help, please contact us. Thank you for investing in the lives of our youth!

A huge thank you to ShinnTennis for partnering with Bull City Youth Center this week! 🎾

As our Summer Day Camp campers explore the world of sports, ShinnTennis generously provided tennis equipment that is helping our children learn new skills, stay active, build confidence, and have fun on the court.

We are grateful for community partners who invest in our youth and create opportunities for them to discover new interests and talents. Thank you, ShinnTennis, for helping make this summer an unforgettable experience for our campers!

These are real children from the Durham, Orange, & Person Counties area—each one eager for the chance to spend a week at Camp Walter Johnson this summer.

For many families, the cost of camp is the only thing standing in the way.

You can change that. "Adopt" a camper with a gift toward their registration, fully sponsor a child's $300 camp fee, or help send multiple kids to camp this summer.

Your generosity gives a child the space to swim, laugh, build friendships, and experience the love of Jesus through caring counselors, campfire conversations, and moments that matter.

🍩 Happy National Donut Day! 🍩

Did you know National Donut Day has its roots in The Salvation Army?

Today, members of The Salvation Army were honored to hand out donuts and coffee at the VA Medical Center as a small way of saying “thank you” to the men and women who have served our country.

National Donut Day was established in 1938 by The Salvation Army to honor the “Donut Lassies”—the brave Salvation Army volunteers who served donuts, encouragement, and a taste of home to soldiers on the front lines during World War I.

More than 100 years later, we continue that tradition of service, compassion, and gratitude. We are thankful for the opportunity to share a smile, a donut, and our appreciation with our veterans today.

Every year on the first Friday of June, America
celebrates National Donut Day with free treats and donut deals, but behind the glaze
and sprinkles is a powerful history of remarkable women who showed up with
compassion when it mattered most. This June 5, The Salvation Army invites its neighbors to fill our community with joy by honoring the heart and resilience of
the tradition.
National Donut Day was established in 1938 to honor the women who volunteered with
The Salvation Army to provide spiritual and emotional care, critical supplies, and freshly
fried donuts to American soldiers on the front lines of World War I. These women
became known as “Donut Lassies,” and today, their legacy is a reminder that small acts
of kindness can carry enormous joy.
