Today is Well Done Wednesday, where we spotlight exceptional work by our paramedics, AEMTs and EMTs. This week’s honorees are Paramedic Drew Johnson and EMT Tray Peterson.

This crew recently ran a complex medical call at an assisted living facility. They had to make critical, time-sensitive choices regarding patient treatment with minimal history and paperwork available on scene; nevertheless, they were able to treat, stabilize and transport the elderly patient, who is now recovering in the hospital.

Today is Save Sunday, where we recognize the medics, AEMTs and EMTs who were involved in cardiac arrests with sustained ROSC (return of spontaneous circulation) during the previous week. Great job everyone!

Today is Well Done Wednesday, where we spotlight exceptional work by our paramedics, AEMTs and EMTs. This week, we recognize everyone who responded to a three-alarm structure fire on University Drive last weekend. These crews worked for hours in stifling heat taking care of multiple injured civilians and firefighters, treating everything from long distance falls and deep lacerations to smoke inhalation and heat exhaustion.

Please welcome Destiny Sealey to the Durham County Office of Emergency Services Business Operations Division.

Destiny has joined us as our new Office Assistant. In her role, she will be responsible for fuel reconciliation, records retention, daily deposits, and other essential Business Operations functions that keep our division moving forward.

Destiny brings a warm, people-centered approach and a positive energy that creates a welcoming environment for everyone around her. She earned her degree in Exercise Science from Winston-Salem State University, where she strengthened her passion for health and wellness - and met her fiancé along the way.

When she’s not working, Destiny enjoys lifting weights at the gym, spending time with family, friends, and her dog, listening to music, and exploring new foods. Her curiosity, openness, and love of meeting people from all backgrounds make her a great add for our team.

Please join us in giving Destiny a warm welcome to OES. We’re excited she’s here and look forward to the great things she will contribute to our team!

Please join us in congratulating EMTs Taylor Epperly and Evan Owen for successfully completing the FTEP process. They are now cleared for independent practice within the Durham County EMS system.

We appreciate the hard work and dedication of our FTOs, shift leadership, education staff, and FTEP coordinator in preparing them for independent practice. Special thanks to Cpl. Gibbons, Cpl. Schumacher, Cpl. Crittenden, Sgt. Tomkoski, Sgt. McBrayer, and FTEP Coordinator Sara Houston for their contributions.
