Join Duke Human Rights Center@FHI for our Summer Read Kickoff Lunch! We're inviting students, faculty, staff, and community members to join us this summer in reading Lisa Siraganian's The Problem of Personhood: Giving Rights to Trees, Corporations and Robots.

The Kickoff Lunch will be a time to meet each other, hear a bit about the book, and receive your free copy! We will meet again in the early fall semester to discuss the book and its implications in our human rights work. Thank you to Professor Juliette Duara for collaborating with DHRC on this project!

Duke Human Rights Center Director Adam Rosenblatt and student Beyond Borders organizer Leila Zak recently co-authored a column in the Duke Chronicle advocating that Duke University become a Fourth Amendment campus.

On Feb. 26, five plainclothes immigration agents arrived at a Columbia University-owned apartment building and told the superintendent they were police officers searching for a missing child, using fake badges. This, or worse, could easily happen at Duke.

We are excited to share our Student Advisory Board's upcoming event, Human Rights Across the Professions! They have three wonderful human rights professionals and Duke alum joining them for a career panel on working in human rights. The event is Sunday, March 22, from 11am to 1pm, in Social Sciences 136.
