COMPUTER CLASS FOR TYPING

Do you (or someone you know) need a boost in typing skills? Sign up today for the class of 4 typing class by clicking the link below.

This beginner-friendly typing class is designed individuals with little to no computer experience. Students will learn the basics of using a computer keyboard, proper hand placement, and how to type letters, numbers, and words with confidence. The class moves at a comfortable pace and provides step-by-step guidance in a supportive, stress-free environment. No prior computer knowledge is needed. By the end of the course, participants will feel more comfortable using a keyboard for everyday tasks like writing emails, filling out forms, and navigating basic computer programs.

NCWorks Career Center-Durham recently partnered with the Kramden Institute to host a Computer Skills for Job Seekers class. The class covered topics such as word processing software and keeping your computer safe from viruses, resume building, professional email communication and best LinkedIn practices for professional networking on social media.

After completing the four-hour class, each participant was awarded a free refurbished laptop equipped with Windows 11 software to use for job seeking and continued career development. The class was so great that we will schedule another one. Stay tuned for the upcoming classes.

We’re excited to invite you and your organization to join us for Professionalism: The Unspoken Rules, a fun, interactive workshop designed to help young people (ages 16–24) navigate the expectations of today’s workplace with confidence and clarity.

This engaging session will unpack the things employers don’t always spell out—like workplace etiquette, digital presence, and understanding workplace policies that impact day‑to‑day success. Participants will gain practical tools around communication, conduct, personal branding, and how (and when!) to ask for help.

This event is designed to recruit candidates for several open positions, including Food Service Worker I, Food Service Worker II, and Production Worker roles.
