What an incredible morning at the Briggs Ave. Community Garden! 🌿 We were so glad to see everyone on Wednesday, May 6th, for our 2026 Report to the Community. It was a beautiful day to celebrate how we are "Growing a Stronger Durham Together." Guests kicked off the morning with breakfast and explored our vibrant garden spaces. They also visited our various program booths to learn about the impactful work happening across Durham County, including Agriculture and Horticulture, Extension Master Gardener volunteers, Welcome Baby, 4-H, Kids Voting Durham, Community Outreach, and Food Security. We were honored to hear inspiring updates from our County Extension Director, Donna Rewalt, along with special greetings from Durham BOCC Chair Dr. Mike Lee and District Extension Director Tyrone Fisher. We also want to highlight the wonderful presentations on the Welcome Baby Giving Closet, the Extension Master Food Volunteer Program, the Volunteer Program, and our Food System Assessment. Thank you for being such a vital part of our mission to Grow, Educate, and Invest in our community. We appreciate everyone who came out to learn, share, and help us continue to grow a stronger Durham!

Educate. Invest. Grow. 🌱
Looking back at this past year, these three words weren't just a theme—they were our call to action. From Extension Master Food Volunteers, 4-H Farm to Fork Camp, PFAST workshops, Kids Voting, parenting classes, Extension Master Gardener volunteers, Briggs Ave. Community Garden, to the many volunteers that make it all work; we’ve seen firsthand what happens when a community comes together to sprout new opportunities.

Swipe through to see some of our favorite moments from the past year! 📸

Whether it was through providing the tools to Educate, the resources to Invest, or the support to Grow, you were a part of every success story. We are so proud of the progress we’ve made together.

Join us at our Report to the Community Event to hear the full story of our impact, see the data behind the photos, and learn what’s next on the horizon!

🗓 When: Wednesday, May 6th; 8:30am-10:30 am
