The Divinity School Library and Basin & Towel will host a weekly lunch hour community crochet and knitting group for Divinity School students, staff, and faculty Mondays in November.

Hats, gloves, scarves and other projects will benefit Church World Service--Durham and St. John Missionary Baptist Church of Walltown. Bring your own yarn and needles or use ours! Tutorials will be provided for those new to yarn work.

We are also accepting donations of new and gently used scarves and hats throughout November in boxes by the library and the student lounge.

Prospectus a graduate student journal seeking to create a space for learning and growth in ministry and academia for interdisciplinary graduate students and all of Christ’s witnesses wherever they are found.

For its inaugural issue, Prospectus is inviting essays offering theologically formed and/or interdisciplinary considerations regarding the role of persons with intellectual disabilities in the life and ministry of the Church. The following topics are of particular interest:

Ableism and the Imago DeiThe spiritual gifts of persons with intellectual disabilities and their roles in ministry
The Church’s historical understanding of and approaches to persons with intellectual disabilities
Theological anthropology of disability
Scriptural models for understanding and engagement of persons with intellectual disabilities


Prospectus is accepting article submissions, either academic papers or pastoral considerations, of 3,000-4,000 words, and book reviews or sermons approximately 1,000-2,000 words for review by our editorial staff. Other submission options, such as poems or works of art, will also be secondarily considered. Articles may be submitted electronically as Microsoft Word documents, with the author’s name and contact information on the title page only, and should follow the Chicago Manual of Style, 16th edition. Please e-mail articles to [email protected] by midnight December 19th, 2014.
