Durham's Partnership for Children

Durham's Partnership for Children ⭐ Facilitator of Durham’s early childhood system
⭐ Leading community strategies to ensure every child in Durham enters school ready to succeed

Durham's Partnership for Children leads community strategies for children birth-5 and their families to ensure that every child in Durham enters school healthy and ready to succeed. We administer the Smart Start initiative, NC Pre-K and Early Head Start, as well as community-based programs that promote healthy development and learning and enhance access to high quality care. We also identify emerg

ing and emergency needs and mobilize partners to support comprehensive approaches to serving all 23,000 young children in Durham.

Today, we honor Juneteenth: a celebration of freedom, resilience, and the ongoing pursuit of equity.

As an early childhood nonprofit, we believe every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive in a world where their history is recognized and their potential is nurtured. Juneteenth reminds us of the importance of building inclusive communities where ALL children and families feel seen, valued, and empowered.

We celebrate this day by reflecting on the past, uplifting Black voices and stories, and recommitting ourselves to creating brighter futures for every child.

As a parent, you have arguably taken on the most important job! You have an incredible influence on your child’s life, and that kind of responsibility can feel both exciting and overwhelming. Most jobs come with some kind of training before you start, but parenting is the exception. You’re expected to figure it out as you go, like riding a bike for the first time with no one there to steady you.

While advice from friends, family, and your own experiences can be a wonderful source of support, parenting education offers an additional layer of structured, skill-based tools to add to your toolkit.💫
