🚧 Road Improvement Update 🚧

City crews will be returning to SE 8th Avenue, E. Arkansas Street, and E. Florida Street beginning Monday, June 15th, through Thursday, June 18th, to complete the asphalt overlay project.

Residents and motorists in the area should expect construction activity and possible temporary traffic disruptions while work is underway. We appreciate your patience as we continue making improvements to our city streets.

Visit us at the Magnolia Farmers Market from 8:00 to 11:00 AM or stop by Durant City Hall from 12:00 to 1:30 PM to learn about the project, share your ideas, and provide input on the updated zoning and subdivision regulations.

These banners will be displayed throughout the community as a tribute to the courage, sacrifice, and dedication of our local heroes. Whether honoring a family member, friend, or loved one, this program provides an opportunity to celebrate their legacy and service for all to see.

We officially broke ground on our new animal shelter, taking a major step toward creating a better future for the animals and families we serve. This facility will provide a safe, welcoming environment for animals in need while helping strengthen adoption, rescue, and care efforts across our community.

This project represents years of planning, partnership, and dedication, and we are thrilled to see it become a reality. Thank you to everyone who has helped bring this vision to life.

🚧 Traffic Update – West Arkansas Street 🚧

Contract crews continue work on the water line relocation project along West Arkansas Street.

🚦 West Arkansas St. will be reduced to one lane from S 22nd Ave. to Radio Rd. Monday through Thursday while construction is underway. Motorists should expect minor delays and are encouraged to plan for additional travel time when traveling through the area.

Please use caution, follow all traffic control devices, and remain alert for workers and equipment in the construction zone. Slowing down and staying attentive helps keep everyone safe.

Here's your chance to help add a splash of color and creativity to Durant. The City of Durant is inviting the community to participate in our Fire Hydrant Decorating Contest, transforming everyday fire hydrants into unique works of art that reflect the pride, personality, and spirit of our city.

Whether your design celebrates Durant, highlights local history, showcases Oklahoma pride, or simply spreads a little joy, we want to see your vision!

✅ All designs must be submitted and approved before any painting begins

The City of Durant is proud to launch our Hometown Heroes Banner Program, an opportunity to recognize and honor the brave men and women who have served our country.

We want to honor all veterans and are excited to provide a lasting tribute that celebrates their service and sacrifice throughout our city. These banners will serve as a visible reminder of the courage, dedication, and commitment of our local heroes.

🚧 Traffic Alert 🚧

Beginning this week, University Boulevard will undergo intersection rehabilitation and minor street mill-and-overlay work from 6th Avenue to Bryan Drive.

As part of this project, the intersections at 7th Avenue and 12th Avenue will be temporarily closed for concrete rehabilitation. Other areas along University Boulevard will be reduced to one lane or may require temporary traffic rerouting.

Please plan for additional travel time, use caution in work zones, and follow all posted traffic control signs.

This work will be completed by contractors as part of ongoing infrastructure improvements.
