Staff and company members of the Oklahoma Shakespearean Festival came by Wednesday’s meeting to tell us about their educational programs and upcoming shows. Among those representing OSF were Natalie Weaver, Rebecca Walters, Kelly Smith, and Audrey Dorn. Information about upcoming shows can be found on the Oklahoma Shakespearean Festival page or at www.oklahomashakes.com.

The Durant Kiwanis Club is happy to donate annually to OSF, which provides multiple scholarships for kids in the Children’s Theatre production.

Jenny Sanchez was awarded the Durant Kiwanis Club 2025 Citizen of the Year at today’s meeting. Jenny continually impacts our community by her volunteerism and philanthropy. Just to name a few of her affiliations, she has been involved with the Durant Area Chamber of Commerce, Oklahoma Shakespearean Festival, Southeastern Oklahoma State University Foundation Board, and many, many more. She currently serves as President of Cherokee Communications alongside of her husband Sam. She is proud of her son Gaius, and is heavily involved with any organization that he takes part in.

The Durant Kiwanis Citizen of the Year does not have to be a member of the Club. Nominations are made by Club members, then voted on by the Durant Kiwanis Club Past Presidents’ Committee.

This award is well-deserved! Congratulations Jenny, and thank you for the support you not only give the Kiwanis Club, but also the community!
