Summer is underway at the Club! Outside fun with friends, arts & crafts with Tracey, swimming, science experiments, nature exploration, and Summer Brain Gain activities to keep kids on track for the upcoming school year, are among the fun with a purpose activities led by our amazing staff, that will make this the best summer ever! This week, bead creations including Axolotls were among favorite activities at the Main Durango Club (4th gr and older), Park Elementary (K-3rd gr), and Bayfield summer program sites. UPDATE- Power has returned and Club's are operating as normal.

The Boys & Girls Club sites in Durango are without power and we do not have an estimated return to service.
We are asking families to make their way to pick up their children for the day. Please call 970-814-9479 to reach the Main Ave Club or 970-946-9117 to reach the Park Elementary Site.

Join us this Sunday for the most joyful race of Iron Horse Bicycle Classic weekend! From push bikes to mountain bikes, kids 2-12 are invited to race around the clock tower at FLC. The race fee is just $10 and goes to support health & wellbeing programs at the Boys & Girls Club. Sponsored by Sprite, racer receive some great goodies and a finisher's medal! Races start at 10 am. We couldn't be more proud of Ms. McKenna. She leads our after school programs with kindness and empathy and a whole lot of fun! The youth at Animas Valley Elementary are so fortunate to have her!

Our 5th grade class is proud to announce Ms. McKenna as their 2026 Person of the Year!

As an aspiring young teacher she has become a vital part of our AVE family, modeling the very values we strive to teach our students every single day- unwavering kindness, a source of hope, and a sense of belonging! 👏🏼💙🐾

We’re excited to share a sneak peek of something special coming to North Main Ave! Local artist Annie Bussell has begun work on a mural, with help from our dedicated Club members. This photo captures Annie in the early stages, priming the wall and setting the foundation for what will soon become a vibrant piece of public art.

The mural is expected to take shape in mid-May, bringing fresh color, creativity, and energy to the North Main Ave corridor. We’re proud to support this beautiful enhancement to our community and can’t wait for everyone to see the finished art piece! Thank you to the City of Durango Lodger's Tax for launching this project. Stay tuned for progress updates!

Congratulations to our friends at the Community Foundation serving Southwest Colorado for hosting such a fun, community-centered Wine Experience this past weekend!

A special shoutout to Kim C., whose leadership on behalf of the Foundation brought together an incredible event that truly reflects the spirit of our community.

We’re especially proud of our Club’s amazing team of volunteers, who showed up with energy and enthusiasm to support both the Friday WalkAbout and the Saturday Grand Tasting. Their efforts—alongside those of fellow nonprofit partners—helped make the weekend a great success.

It’s inspiring to see what can be accomplished when organizations come together with a shared purpose: creating meaningful experiences and giving back to the community we all care about.
