Across southwestern Colorado, landowners are taking action to protect their forests. Join us on September 11th for a tour of one of these properties!

To RSVP, contact: Nick Olson ([email protected] or 970.238.0223)

During the tour, you will be able to:
• See what an actively managed forest looks like
• Pick the brains of local forestry and fire professionals, and discuss management options for your property
• Talk with neighbors about what actions they’ve taken, or plan to take
• Sign up for programs that help cover the cost of improving forest health on your property

Lunch and refreshments will be provided!

My Southwest Forest is proud to co-host this event with the Four Corners Chapter of the Association of Consulting Foresters. Our partners from NRCS will also be in attendance.

La Plata Conservation District in partnership with La Plata County and the Colorado Department of Agriculture announces the establishment of a Noxious W**d Cost Share program for all landowners and land managers in La Plata County. The program details and application form are included in the link below. Reimbursement for herbicide and seed for restoration are eligible costs to be reimbursed at 50%. We encourage participation by individuals, and especially irrigation/ditch companies and homeowner associations. Despite area drought levels, last year's wet winter and spring continues to promote w**d seed germination today. Receipts are required and the program will continue until funds are expended. The deadline to submit applications is NOV. 1st!

The two educational workshops were very informative, one on beetle infestations, by Dr. Dan West, a Colorado State Forest Entomologist; and the other on Soil Disturbance & W**d Management, by Rod Cook, a retired La Plata County W**d Manager.
