If you have already been to the pool today, you will not have to use another punch to get back in.

The City of Durand is deeply saddened by the loss of Chris Bates.

Our heartfelt sympathy and prayers go out to the Bates family, his Fire Department family, and his NTEC family during this difficult time.

Chris was an outstanding firefighter, a proud United States Marine Corps veteran, and a genuinely kind person. He was always willing to stop for a conversation, share a smile, and make those around him feel welcome. Chris had a way of connecting with people from all walks of life and was the type of person who would help anyone in need.

A hero to his country, his community, and all who knew him, Chris served with honor and integrity. Through his military service, his dedication to the fire service, and his commitment to those around him, he touched countless lives and left a lasting impact on our community.

Chris will be remembered not only for his service, but also for his character, compassion, and friendship. His positive influence will not be forgotten, and his presence will be greatly missed.

On behalf of the City of Durand, we extend our deepest condolences to all who knew and loved Chris.

Semper Fi, Chris. Thank you for your service, your sacrifice, and the difference you made in the lives of so many.

With profound and heartfelt sadness, we have to announce the passing of Firefighter Chris J. Bates. Chris joined the Durand Fire Department in 2007, served as a Lieutenant and Training Officer on the department and was a current Senior Member. Chris was an amazing firefighter and US Marine Veteran. More importantly he was a brilliant husband, father and grandfather to his family. Rest easy brother, we’ll take the watch from here. Godspeed Chris Bates.

We are SO excited! The Durand Community Pool will open on June 8.

* Pool punch passes can be purchased at City Hall or at the pool.
* Daily admission can be purchased at door.
* The pool will be open every day from 12n - 5pm and 6pm - 8pm. Morning swim is available M-F from 6am - 9am.
