We honor his dedicated service and ultimate sacrifice. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, loved ones, and the Warm Springs Police Department during this profoundly difficult time. 🇺🇸

💙🥫 Dunwoody PD Gives Back!

The Dunwoody Police Department had the pleasure of collecting food for the Atlanta Community Food Bank, helping provide much-needed meals to families in our community.

A special thank you to Dunwoody High School, CrossFit Dunwoody, Dunwoody Library, and Spruill Center for the Arts for serving as collection sites and helping make this food drive a success!

Yesterday, Dunwoody officers joined officers from Cobb County, Brookhaven, MARTA, and Austell Police Departments at the Atlanta Community Food Bank to pack food boxes and lend a helping hand.

We are proud to work alongside our fellow law enforcement agencies and community partners to make a difference beyond the badge. 🚔💙

Our thoughts are with the Atlanta Police Department and Recruit Class #302 during this incredibly difficult time.

The Dunwoody Police Department extends our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of Recruit Moses Russ, as well as his fellow recruits, academy staff, and the entire Atlanta Police Department.

Though his time with APD was brief, his commitment to a life of service and dedication to others will not be forgotten.

Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone mourning this tragic loss. 💙🙏

Today we’re celebrating some very special members of our DPD family - PSAC Savannah, K9 Max, K9 Ranger, K9 Hank, and K9 Zorro! 💙

Our K9s are more than just working dogs. They are loyal partners, dedicated teammates, and an important part of keeping our community safe. We are incredibly grateful for their hard work, courage, and unconditional love. 🐾💙

UPDATE at 2:40PM: The gas leak has been repaired and the roadway has reopened.

Road Closure Alert: Chamblee Dunwoody Road is currently closed in both directions between Redfield Drive and Oakpoint Place due to a gas leak.
Emergency crews are on scene, and the closure will remain in effect until further notice. Please avoid the area and use alternate routes.

Vehicles or pedestrians cannot currently enter or exit The Branches via Trailridge Way. DeKalb Fire Rescue and Public Works crews are on scene.

CRITICALLY MISSING PERSON — PLEASE SHARE

The Dunwoody Police Department is currently searching for Edwin Matheson, an 88-year-old male who was last seen at approximately 3:00 p.m. today on Windhaven Court near Womack Road.

Mr. Matheson has Alzheimer’s disease and is considered critically missing.

He was last seen wearing:

White baseball cap
Red/coral T-shirt with a dolphin on it
Blue jeans

A recent photo of Mr. Matheson has been provided.

If you see Mr. Matheson or know where he may be, please call 911 immediately.

The Dunwoody Police Department has received reports of scammers calling residents pretending to be our police officers , even Chief Carlson. These callers may claim you have a warrant, owe money, missed jury duty, or must make an immediate payment to avoid arrest.

Remember: The Dunwoody Police Department will NEVER demand payment over the phone, request gift cards, cryptocurrency, or threaten immediate arrest if you don’t pay.
