A huge thank you to đź’›Rachel Dike,đź’› our outgoing PTO President, for all of the time, energy, and heart she's poured into Dunwoody Elementary during her tenure. Rachel is always on hand to help in need, whether it's setting up, cleaning up, selling spirit wear, or just being on deck to chip in where needed. Her leadership, dedication, and countless behind-the-scenes efforts helped make the past 2 years so special and meaningful for our students, teachers, and families. We are so grateful for everything she has done for PTO and the DES community!

🏆 DES earned 1st Place in the district’s Attendance Avengers “Your Presence Is Power” Contest!

🎯 Our students, staff, and families surpassed our 95% attendance goal, reaching 95.4%!

✨ We were proactive, began with the end in mind, and put first things first by prioritizing daily attendance. We sought first to understand barriers and worked together to remove them with a win-win mindset—celebrating our Attendance All-Stars and implementing targeted supports. We synergized as a team, ROARing with Respect, Ownership, Attitude, and Responsibility, and sharpened the saw through reflection and growth—because learning and leading start with showing up. 🦸‍♀️

The STEM Garden is looking great with our Three Sister bed and Dream Square Foot Gardens growing fast! Last week, 3rd and 5th grades had a guest speaker - Jay and Emmet’s Aunt Sarah! She is a plant breeder who breeds squash. She sent us seeds which we planted in April and have grown into producing squash plants. Today we learned about how she pollinates the flowers to breed desired traits in the squash. And we got to taste some too!

We’re launching a new Upcycle/Reuse Program for students and families next school year, and we need your help to get it started! From t-shirts and polos to PJs and more, your gently used items can find a new home in our DES Upcycle Closet.
