Cheek-Spruill Farmhouse

Cheek-Spruill Farmhouse The Dunwoody Farmhouse, owned by Dunwoody Preservation Trust. This two-story home, which is beautifully restored today, had humble beginnings.

Originally built as a one story home in 1906 by Mr. Joberry Cheek for his son, Bunyan Cheek, the house sat on 2.5 acres of land in the heart of Dunwoody. At that time, the site included a pasture, cornfield, barn, smokehouse, and a chicken house.

It has almost been a year since we shut down for COVID. At that time Dunwoody Preservation Trust (DPT) started collecting photos, stories and other momentos to record the pandemic. The pandemic is still among us and we are still collecting. If you would like to share your stories and photos with us, please email us at [email protected]. At some point today will be our past and we would like to have a record of how this event has impacted all of us – for worse AND for good! You can view some of what we've collected at https://dunwoodypreservationtrust.org/covid19/

Today is , a global movement of generosity that is more vital in 2020 than ever before. It's a day dedicated to uplifting communities, empowering nonprofits, and celebrating kindness.

For more than 25 years, Dunwoody Preservation Trust (DPT) has seen ourselves as friends working with our community – and developers, local businesses and the city government – to help make Dunwoody a place where the past and present co-exist in harmony. Today, wherever the people of Dunwoody gather for public celebrations, you’re bound to see us – proud of being part of the glue that holds our community together. Whether it be Lemonade Days, Light Up Dunwoody at the Cheek-Spruill Farmhouse, Apple Cider Days, Camp Flashback and other events at the Donaldson-Bannister Farm, DPT is at the heart of all of these community activities.

2020 has been a struggle for all of us. Please consider donating to Dunwoody Preservation Trust today so that we can continue to be part of that glue for our community. Thank you for your support.

Sadly, we lost one of our iconic white oaks trees today at the Cheek-Spruill Farmhouse. We are so thankful that the driver was not hurt. Thank you Dunwoody Police and all those that helped (are still helping) to secure the area and clean it up. While we lost tree that is almost a century old, it will live on as the trunk will be recycled into table tops for a restaurant.

TODAY is the LAST DAY to donate and be entered in the drawing!

Because of COVID-19, we had to cancel Lemonade Days, our major source of funding. For every $100 you donate until midnight on September 16 (TONIGHT!), including what you have already donated since our campaign began, we will enter a raffle ticket in your name for a drawing to be held on September 18 and live-streamed on Facebook. The prize is a catered evening at the Donaldson-Bannister farm.
