The "Drivers Lounge," initially created in 2019 as part of a station remodel, has been updated (by the A-Shift crew).
The walls were repainted, and we added wainscoting, baseboards, chair rails, and crown molding. The TV and the old window from Engine 21 were mounted on the wall.
The baseboards, chair rails, and wainscoting were done in shou sugi ban (Japanese wood charring) and then stained and polyurethane coated. The crown molding is an old, out-of-service fire hose.

Public Service Announcement:

An increased demand for emergency services has caused long wait times in local Emergency Rooms. Please do not use the Emergency Rooms for COVID testing and understand that being transported by ambulance does not necessarily mean you will be seen more quickly at the Emergency Room.
In most cases, you will be placed in a triage area. Only utilize the medical 911 system when experiencing an emergency. If possible, utilize other medical resources such as virtual doctor visits, nurse call lines, primary care physicians or urgent care facilities. This allows ambulances to be available for life-threatening emergencies.

Company 21 and Company 24 on all 3 shifts conducted a walkthrough at the new State Farm Complex in Dunwoody consisting of a 3 high rise structures (building 1 =24 stories, building 2 =25 stories,and building 3=21 stories). Each building contains 4 different banks of elevators accessing different building elevations, and the “freight” elevator that stops on each floor. Great learning and educational experience. Best way to know your hazards and see what resources could be needed is to go out and visit your target hazards and new construction. Big thank you to Chief Engineer Tony Born, Engineer Patrice Baker, and Captain Bret Langston for getting this organized.

Never Forget - September 11, 2001

20 years ago today our nation suffered a great loss. On this day our world stopped turning. 3000 souls were lost, of those souls we lost 343 Firefighters, 60 Police Officers, and 8 Emts and Paramedics. These brave souls risk their lives to save others, and gave the ultimate sacrifice. NEVER FORGET.

ON this day we were ALL AMERICANS, were were not Black, White, Hispanic, Asian, Male, or Female WE WERE AMERICANS.
Sadly we have forgotten, forgotten that WE ARE AMERICANS, we are a nation of people from all walks of life and from all regions of the world. This diversity makes us GREAT.
