This Memorial Day, Dunedin Fire Rescue honors and remembers the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country.

Today is a day to reflect on the courage, dedication, and selflessness of those who gave everything to protect the freedoms we enjoy each day. We are forever grateful for their service and sacrifice.

From all of us at Dunedin Fire Rescue — including Russet — we wish everyone a safe and meaningful Memorial Day. 🇺🇸

Dunedin Fire Rescue would like to thank Jet’s Pizza for stopping by Station 61 today as part of their “Creating Community Connections” initiative!

They dropped off some great Detroit-style pizza and took the time to connect with our crew—something we always appreciate. Partnerships like this help strengthen the bond between local businesses and first responders, and it truly makes a difference in our community.

Thank you again to Jet’s Pizza for thinking of us and for supporting your local fire department. 🍕🚒

🐾 A Purr-fect Rescue Story from Dunedin Fire Rescue 🐾

This afternoon, District Chief Fast and Firefighter Parrish were out in the District Chief vehicle when they spotted something unexpected right in the middle of the road—a tiny kitten.

Realizing the immediate danger, they quickly activated their emergency lights and stopped traffic to keep the kitten safe. After a short (and slightly comical) chase, Firefighter Parrish was able to safely scoop up the little one. Mission accomplished… or so they thought.

As they got back into the vehicle to transport the kitten to a veterinary office, this tiny feline pulled off a serious Houdini move—vanishing straight into the dashboard of the truck. Yes… inside the dash.

With help from our fleet mechanics, the dashboard was carefully taken apart to reach the elusive passenger. But the kitten had wedged itself into a very tight spot and wasn’t coming out easily.

That’s when things took an even better turn. The team had all the tools they needed… except one: a small enough set of hands.

Luckily, a nurse was at the station conducting annual physicals—and she had exactly what was needed. With patience (and those small hands), she was able to safely rescue the kitten.

And the best part? That same nurse decided to give this little survivor a forever home. 🐱❤️

A big thank you to everyone involved—from our firefighters to our fleet team and our unexpected hero of the day—for going above and beyond to help one very determined kitten.

Sometimes, it’s not just about answering calls… it’s about making a difference, no matter how small. 🚒

Dunedin Fire Rescue was proud to take part in a unique (and delicious) community event today!

Members from Fire Station 62 were invited to The Preserve at Dunedin, located on Greenbrier Boulevard, to serve as judges for their chili cook-off—and we can’t think of a better group for the job. After all, who knows heat better than firefighters?

Our crew had a great time sampling the entries, connecting with the community, and enjoying the friendly competition. Events like these are a great reminder of the strong partnerships we share and the importance of staying engaged beyond emergency response.

Thank you to The Preserve at Dunedin for including us—it was an honor (and a tough job, but someone had to do it)!
