UPDATE – 3:00 PM: Repairs have been completed and water service has been restored to all affected businesses.

Public Notice: The City of Duncanville Water Department has shut off water service due to an emergency water main break affecting the 600 Block of Big Stone Gap Rd., between S. Cedar Ridge Dr. and Santa Fe Trail, as well as the 1000–1100 Block of Explorer St., between Big Stone Gap Rd. and S Cedar Ridge Dr.

The water shutoff began at 8:00 AM today, Wednesday, September 16. At this time, there is no estimated time of completion. Affected businesses are being notified, and crews are working to make repairs and restore water service as quickly as possible.

We appreciate your patience and will share additional updates as they become available.

Has your water meter been upgraded? City of Duncanville Water Utility customers with upgraded smart water meters can use the EyeOnWater app to easily track their water usage, spot potential leaks early, and help avoid surprise water bills.

As the City continues its smart water meter replacement project, customers with upgraded meters can create a free EyeOnWater account and start keeping a closer eye on their water use.

SMOKE TEST NOTICE

The City of Duncanville has contracted with Duke’s Root Control, Inc. to conduct smoke testing of the sanitary sewer main lines from Redbird Ln. to I-20, Duncanville Rd. to Statler Dr. Testing will begin on Monday, September 14, and will continue through the week.

Smoke testing is a common method used to identify and locate problems in wastewater systems. This service involves introducing non-toxic smoke into the sewer system. If there are leaks or cracks in the pipes, the smoke will escape, making it visible above ground. This identifies locations where the sewer system may be allowing the inflow of stormwater or exfiltration of wastewater, leading to a reduction of system capacity and increased system overflows.

Smoke testing helps assess the overall integrity of the wastewater infrastructure. Identifying and addressing issues promptly can reduce unnecessary stress on the sewer collection system.
