If you received a test emergency alert on your mobile phone today, it was part of the Texas statewide emergency alert systems drill coordinated by the Texas Division of Emergency Management.

Because jurisdictions across the region participated in this coordinated test, some residents may have received more than one test alert. This can occur when mobile devices are connected to cell towers serving nearby jurisdictions.

Emergency alerts are used to notify residents about serious safety situations such as severe weather, hazardous incidents, evacuations, and other emergencies — not just AMBER Alerts.

Please do not disable emergency alerts on your mobile phone. These alerts provide important information that can help keep you and your family safe.

If you did not receive the test alerts, check your phone settings and ensure the alerts are turned ON.

Thank you for helping keep our community prepared.

On Thursday, April 2, 2026, at the request of Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM), a statewide test of emergency alerting systems will occur between 10:00 AM and 12:30 PM. As part of this drill, local jurisdictions across Texas may test systems used to notify the public during emergencies. Because jurisdictions across the region may participate in this test, you may receive more than one test alert on your phone and hear outdoor warning sirens during the testing window.

At 10am on April 2, the City of Duncanville will activate its Everbridge emergency notification system for those on our STEAR Registry and will activate a WEA Alert to cellphones with WEA Test Alerts turned on in their phone settings. The City’s Outdoor Warning Sirens will be tested on our normal test day; Wednesday April 1 at 2pm weather permitting.

This will only be a test. No emergency action is required.

Testing helps ensure emergency alert systems work when they are needed most.
