The arrest of Mr. Keandre Green on August 18, 2023, has garnered much attention on social media as well as in the news media. Since then, many unsubstantiated and false accusations have been levied against the Duncanville Police Department and more specifically the officers who were involved in the incident with Mr. Green. I do not blame Mr. Green’s attorney, Mr. Justin A. Moore Esq. for these false allegations nor do I blame those close to Mr. Green or his supporters for putting too much stock into these allegations. In an information vacuum, you can only go off whatever information is available. I watched the body worn camera videos and I read the report associated with the incident. Though I am unable to provide as much information as I would like, as President of the Duncanville Police Association, I am happy to provide as much information as I am able.

As is widely reported, officers initially responded to a report of indecent exposure. Mr. Green was contacted and identified as part of the routine investigation and he was found to have an active family violence warrant for his arrest. The arresting officer instructed Mr. Green to place his hands behind his back. Mr. Green needlessly escalated the situation by immediately turning and running away.

Once Mr. Green was caught, he resisted officers’ attempts to place him into handcuffs. In order to gain control of Mr. Green and to complete the arrest, officers had to use force. Within seconds of placing Mr. Green into handcuffs and because of Mr. Green’s complaints of pain, the arresting officer made immediate requests for medical assistance. Mr. Green was transported to the hospital while still in police custody. It was later determined that Mr. Green would be released from custody, have his family violence warrant re-issued, and an additional charge of evading arrest will be filed at-large.

Aside from the information that has already been provided, I wanted to take this opportunity to inform the communities we serve that their officers performed their duties professionally, courteously, and acted well within the bounds of department policy and applicable law. They received a complaint from one of our citizens and investigated that complaint as thoroughly as they could. During that investigation the officers treated Mr. Green with respect and dignity, speaking with him, joking with him, and even laughing with him. Once Mr. Green was identified as a wanted individual, our officers employed appropriate measures to take that individual into custody as would be expected of law enforcement officers. Unfortunately, Mr. Green’s actions needlessly escalated the situation resulting in the officers having to use force.

Despite the factual errors in his statements, I would like to applaud Mr. Moore, for aggressively representing Mr. Green and his family. Mr. Moore has attempted to gain more information on this incident and unfortunately the department has not yet provided that information. It is my regret that I am unable to provide any further information to help correct the narrative and put these allegations to rest. I would also like to join Mr. Moore in his calls for the immediate release of the involved officer’s body worn camera videos. The release of the videos to the public will help correctly characterize the behavior of all individuals involved.

Grand Jury in less than a month, glad it was resolved quickly and the officer can move on.

Allen PD did a great job and it shows in their released body cam.

The body camera footage released Wednesday showed the tragic events from the perspective of the officer who neutralized the shooter.
