The Duncan Police Department is proud to award letters of commendation to several officers for their exceptional professionalism, teamwork, and dedication to protecting our community during a critical incident
that occurred in March 2026.

Master Officer K. Keplinger and K9 Blu, Master Officer S. Eaton, and Officer G. Vallejo were recognized for their actions during a missing child investigation. Their rapid response, coordinated efforts, and commitment to public safety were instrumental in the safe recovery of a young child and the successful resolution of the incident.

These officers demonstrated the highest standards of law enforcement service. Their actions reflect the professionalism, compassion, and dedication that the citizens of Duncan expect from their police department.

Chief Brian Attaway stated, "These officers exemplify what it means to serve our community with integrity and professionalism. Their ability to remain focused, make sound decisions, and work together during critical situations resulted in positive outcomes and reflects great credit upon themselves and the Duncan Police Department."

As families and friends gather this Memorial Day weekend to honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country, Duncan Police Department encourages everyone to celebrate safely and responsibly.

Whether you’re traveling, spending time at the lake, grilling with family, or enjoying time outdoors, please keep these safety tips in mind:

Driving Safety
• Never drive impaired
• Buckle up every trip
• Slow down and avoid distractions
• Watch for increased holiday traffic and pedestrians

Lake & Water Safety
• Always wear a life jacket while boating or swimming
• Never operate a boat under the influence
• Keep a close eye on children near the water
• Be aware of changing weather conditions

Holiday Weekend Tips
• Never leave grills or campfires unattended
• Lock your vehicles and secure valuables
• Check on family and friends

The Duncan Police Department would like to congratulate the supervisors who successfully completed the Executive Leadership Institute through FBI-LEEDA, a nationally recognized organization dedicated to developing excellence in law enforcement leadership and professional development. The Executive Leadership Institute is designed to strengthen executive decision-making, organizational leadership, and strategic thinking for today’s law enforcement professionals.
Congratulations to Captain L. Parker, Lt. J. Lard, Sgt. S. Smith, Sgt. J. Roller, Sgt. K. Arnold, and Sgt. Z. Mitchell on this outstanding accomplishment.
In addition, we are proud to recognize Lt. J. Lard, Sgt. S. Smith, Sgt. J. Roller, Sgt. K. Arnold, and Sgt. Z. Mitchell who earned the prestigious Trilogy Award through FBI-LEEDA. Officers from Duncan Police Department had the honor of joining fellow Law Enforcement Officers from across the state to provide security at the 2026 Special Olympics Summer Games in Stillwater this week.

We thank Lt. Lard, Sgt. Mitchell, Master Officer Bratcher, Officer Schenck, and Officer Burchfield for helping with such an important event.

In 1962, President John F. Kennedy proclaimed May 15th as National Peace Officers Memorial Day and the calendar week in which May 15th falls, National Police Week. The week pays special recognition to those law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty for the safety and protection of others.
