UPDATE: Five individuals have been identified including one that was arrested for UUMV. The Dumas Police Department will continue investigating this series of incidents by these individuals and will file appropriate charges. We still ask the community to check their vehicles in the event there are more victims still out there.

Also, please take the time to secure your belongings. Criminals are opportunistic and often times will go after easy targets.

Last night, the City of Dumas experienced a significant amount of vehicle burglaries. Due to these incidents occurring over a large area of the city, it is highly likely that there are more potential victims that have yet to discover their vehicles being burglarized.

The Dumas Police Department is asking citizens to check their vehicles and properties to ascertain if any property is missing. We are also asking citizens to check their surveillance cameras in hopes of identifying the offenders.

If anyone has any information, please contact the Dumas Police Department and ask to speak to any officer.

We would also like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank Mr. Lee Gibson for generously volunteering his time and photography services. Despite his busy schedule, Mr. Gibson graciously provided both the group photograph and individual employee photographs for our department.

Today, 5/13/2026, Dumas Police Department was made aware of an unknown suspect making phone calls and sending text messages to various citizens & claiming to be a Officer of our Department in an attempt to solicit money from citizens.
Dumas Police Department DOES NOT contact citizens via phone & demand money to be paid for any reason.
If you or someone you know receives a phone call from anyone claiming to work at the Dumas Police Department & attempting to solicit money, we advise you end the conversation & report this activity to our Office immediately.

This solemn event is a time to reflect on the dedication, sacrifice, and commitment of the men and women who gave their lives protecting others. Their service and legacy will never be forgotten.

We encourage citizens, family members, friends, and neighboring agencies to stand alongside us as we pay tribute to our fallen heroes and show support for those who continue to serve.
