We hope everyone had a blessed holiday. As many of you know we had our first annual comedy night in August to raise funds for Project Christmas 2024. We raised over $7,500.00 with the majority being donated to our local food pantry (Dumas Education and Social Ministries) and helped them distribute Christmas dinners to 350 families. Last year we helped distribute dinners to 50 families. We never expected it to get this big this fast. Additionally we partnered with the Ridge Tree Project, First Baptist Church, Destination Ford, Ram Country, Wal Mart and the Tim Sally Law Office in Dumas to collect and deliver toys to children in ages ranging from 6 months to 15 years of age. Without our help these children might not have had a joyful Christmas. On two Saturdays in mid-December we set up in the parking lot at Wal Mart and offered shoppers the opportunity to purchase gifts for the children. In 8 hours on the first Saturday we collected toys from shoppers and received over $800.00 in donations toward the purchase of additional toys. On December 22, members of the Ridge Tree Project, First Baptist Church, American Legion and VFW wrapped over 230 gifts for the children. On Christmas Eve, Terry Vogel, past Commander of American Legion Post 224 and disguised as Santa Claus, personally delivered Christmas gifts to 76 children in Dumas, Etter and Cactus. This endeavor could not have been possible without the generous financial support of our community. Many thanks to our community and the members of the Ridge Tree Project, First Baptist Church Missions Committee, American Legion and VFW posts for making dreams become a reality.
