AAMC partnered with Kraus-Anderson and University of Minnesota Duluth this weekend as part of Welcome Week! A group of incoming students spent time on a mural service project and got a behind-the-scenes look at the restoration of the historic Duluth Armory.

We loved having some new Bulldogs at the Armory! Wishing all UMD students a great first day!

We’re excited to share that our team continues to grow! Please help us welcome Katey to AAMC & Duluth!

Katey Lutz is the Engagement Coordinator for the Duluth Armory Arts & Music Center, bringing a background in nonprofit operational leadership and business management. She previously led the Bemidji Symphony Orchestra for four years as Executive Director, championing community access to orchestral music and supporting the organization’s artistic vision. Before entering the arts world professionally, she spent three years in business management. Her dedication to nonprofit work began during an undergraduate internship, where she discovered her passion for mission‑driven organizations.

Katey is thrilled to support the mission of the Duluth Armory Arts & Music Center and help foster a welcoming space for creativity, connection, and community. As she continues making Duluth her home, she looks forward to exploring its natural beauty and vibrant arts and music community for years to come.

Our first August camp filled up so we are adding another!! 🤘🏼❤️🎵🥳

We have some students who will need scholarships to attend and we are asking to the community to help. If you want to sponsor all or part of a student’s tuition, please visit www.dulutharmory.org/donate and specify it’s for MRC. Every dollar goes to the supplies and food costs (they drink a LOT of lemonade! 😅)

We’re incredibly proud to celebrate our Board Chair, Carolyn Sundquist, who has received the 2026 G. Bernard Callan Jr. Award for Outstanding Volunteer from the National Alliance of Preservation Commissions!

For more than 30 years, Carolyn has been a champion for historic preservation in Duluth. That work includes helping save the historic Duluth Armory from demolition and becoming a founding member of the Armory Arts & Music Center.

Today, she continues that work as our Board Chair as we bring the Armory back to life.

Congratulations, Carolyn! We are so grateful for your leadership, persistence and decades of commitment to Duluth.

Welcome to the team, Gabby!!

Gabby is the Operations & Administrative Coordinator at the Armory Arts & Music Center. She brings a background in nonprofit operations, communications, and event management, with previous experience at sports organizations including USA Curling and U.S. Ski & Snowboard. She enjoys bringing people and ideas together and being part of projects that strengthen the community.

Gabby is passionate about preserving Duluth’s historic buildings and ensuring they remain part of the city’s future. She is excited to be part of the effort to preserve and reimagine the Duluth Armory as a space for arts, music, and community, and looks forward to helping shape its next chapter.

We are excited to have her on board!

🎶 Do you love music? Want to help the next generation discover it?

As we plan for another year of Music Resource Center - Duluth Armory programming, we're looking for people who want to get involved. Whether you're interested in volunteering, mentoring, teaching lessons, leading workshops, or sharing your love of music with local youth, we'd love to hear from you.

We're also looking for community support to help provide scholarships for students to participate. Every volunteer, instructor, and donation helps open the door to music for another young person.
