Applications are now open for the Duluth Police Departmentโ€™s upcoming Citizens Police Academy!

This fall, weโ€™re offering two separate classes - English and Spanish - giving residents the opportunity to learn more about law enforcement, meet members of our department, and get an inside look at how we serve the Duluth community.

๐Ÿซ New school year, same commitment to school safety!

As students settle back into the classroom, lockdown drills are being completed at schools throughout our community, including our recent visit to Duluth High School.

A big thank you to all the students for taking the drill seriously and doing their part. We also appreciate the school administrators and School Resource Officers (SROs) for allowing us to assist and keep a watchful eye throughout the process.

These drills are all about preparation, teamwork, and helping keep our schools safe.

Public Safety Ambassador Eugene โ€œGeneโ€ Evans has been with the Duluth Police Department for eight years. He started with our agency as a Communications Officer and made the move to our Public Safety Ambassador team in 2025.

Gene wanted to become a PSA because he enjoys getting out into the community, meeting people, and having the chance to make a difference through everyday interactions.

Outside of work, you can usually find him enjoying some good Caribbean food, traveling, or checking out a music festival.

If you see Gene out and about around Duluth, be sure to say hello! ๐Ÿ‘‹

Sgt. Hendricks represented the Duluth Police Department at the Battle of the Badges BBQ this weekend and took home 1st place in the Department Competition โ€“ Pork BBQ! ๐Ÿ–

The event brought the law enforcement community together to support Lawrenceville Police Captain Josh Morris, who was severely injured, and his family. Thanks to the incredible turnout, enough money was raised to complete renovations to the Morris home.

Last week, members of the Duluth Police Department assisted Mason Elementary School with their lockdown drill, helping students and staff practice what to do during an emergency.
