U.S. Coast Guard Station Duluth

U.S. Coast Guard Station Duluth Welcome to the official page of U.S. Coast Guard Station Duluth. The history of Coast Guard Station Duluth goes back all the way to 1866. The U.S.

Welcome to the official page of Coast Guard Station Duluth based out of Duluth, Minnesota. Our missions include Search and Rescue, Maritime Law Enforcement, Homeland Security, Ice Rescue, Recreational Boating Safety, Military Readiness, and Environmental Response. The land for Duluth Life Saving Station was donated by the City of Duluth to the Life Saving Service on June 19, 1866 for $1.00. This p

lot of land was known as Franklyn Square and was on the Minnesota Point. In the earlier days, the crew maintained a visual watch of the coast and were prepared to launch their boats to assist any vessel in distress. Under the Coast Guard, this can became the Duluth Lifeboat Station. Due to an increase of responsibilities, crew size, and an aging building, the Coast Guard opened the current station in 1958. The other facilities we share the base with are the Aids to Navigation Team and USCGC Alder. Now P-6 training with MK3 Kucler!

The P-6 pump is a critical piece of equipment used for dewatering and firefighting operations at USCG Station Duluth. Training on the proper use of the P-6 pump is essential for newly reported personnel to ensure they can effectively respond to emergencies and protect lives and property. Understanding the capabilities and limitations of the pump, as well as proper maintenance and troubleshooting procedures, is crucial for successful operations.

This week we had to say goodbye to another member of our engineering department MK3 Timm. MK3 has been here for 4.5 years and has been vital to keeping our boats and unit in tip top shape. Now he is able to bring his experience to his new unit in CA.

We also got to hand out some good conduct awards. Bravo Zulu!

It’s officially transfer season, which means we have to unfortunately start saying goodbye to some crew members. MK1 Powell served at STA Duluth from July 2020 to May 2024. He has been a great member in our engineering department and has provided tons of morale for the crew. His next stop is Hobucken, NC where he will serve as the Engineering Petty Officer at STA Hobucken!

Bravo Zulu MK1 and thank you for being a great shipmate to everyone!
