The thing I can’t stand is being policed, boxed out, muted, and muzzled on the eve of Indigenous Peoples’ Day. You don’t do is tell NDNs to sit down and shut up.
Despite disdainful actions behind the scenes and attempts to "put us in our place” over hyperscale data centers, community worked to create meaningful conversation.
Because communities deserve honesty, accountability, *radical consent*, and the freedom to demand better -- without being bullied into the ground.
Then, as I warned, the consequences of tilting power away from the people played out in real time. As the event ended, “You are fu***ng crazy!” and “You’re batsh*t nuts” were hurled.
I’m furious. We’re up against some of the biggest corporations and billionaires in the world. Bullying, gaslighting, strong-arming, manufactured support for Big Tech, and elected officials signing NDAs at the behest of powerful corporations.
From the DFL & labor, climate, grassroots spaces—everywhere — we must confront the colonialism and racialized capitalism woven into our movements—not reproduce them.
We need unshakeable solidarity, honesty, and accountability now more than ever to create the better world we deserve.
Like our Tribal Leaders just said: we’re organizing for the next seven generations. Long after these companies pack up and leave, our people and homelands will remain.
